FIRST DOUBLE WIN AT BRANDS HATCH
A successful weekend at Brands Hatch. Friday was dry and Free Practice one and two progressed well. Scott made numerous gearing and suspension changes and concentrated on race set up. Qualifying was early on a Saturday morning, again it was dry, and Scott settled into a rhythm and built up to speed throughout the session.
He set pole position and was on the fourth row of the grid, with a buffer of open class riders behind him. He made a great start in Race one and his strategy worked, extending a lead to 13 seconds by the chequered flag. It rained on Sunday morning but with a dry race forecast, Scott elected to miss the morning warm up. It started to dry about 45min before his race and was generally ok with some damp patches under the trees by the time Scott headed out on the warm up lap.
The race start was a carbon copy of race one. By the end of the first lap, Scott had a 1 second lead and he slowly pulled away until the safety car headed out after two open riders crashed. Normally this would result in the riders behind closing in but Scott had enough distance ahead of him to stay at race pace whilst those behind didn’t take advantage of the opportunity. By the time the safety car pulled in, Scott was leading Cam Horseman by 20 secs and he extended that lead to 25 secs by the time the chequered flag was waved.
This is Scotts first BSB double win and he now has a 10point lead over Cameron in this championship in addition to his 20point lead in the British Talent Cup. The next round is Motostar at the Knockhill circuit just outside Falkirk commencing on the 28th June.
