Round 2 British Talent Cup

The late May bank holiday weekend saw the British Talent Cup return to the East Midlands circuit of Donington Park. The previous round was curtailed by the remnants of the Beast from the East and race two was cancelled due to a waterlogged track. Round 2 commenced in a similar fashion with rain bouncing off the track surface as the Talent Cup riders headed out for FP1 on Friday morning. Scott took the opportunity to work on wet settings and consistency. He had a trouble free session which saw a number of riders crash out, the incident hotspot being on the right-left flick down Craner Curves, and ended inside the top ten in ninth spot. The second session took place mid-afternoon on a drying track. All the bikes were equipped with full wets and Scott further improved his position, moving up to P6 without the need to push too hard. Qualifying took place in the evening on a completely dry...

Scott Takes debut BSB Motostar Podium

Scott Takes debut BSB Motostar Podium

Following on from his strong performance at the opening round of the 2018 Motostar Standard class at Brands Hatch where he achieved 7th and 6th places, Scott continues to grow as a rider and is gaining speed with every session. This was evident at Oulton Park over the Bank Holiday weekend where, having achieved 4th in qualifying and lining up on the grid alongside Cameron Horsman and Fenton Seabright, he took a strong if lonely 4th in the first race on Sunday. This set the scene for the main event on Monday, the televised and slightly longer 14 lap contest. Drama ensued in the pit lane when the experienced European Talent Cup Rider, Victor Rodriguez, and favourite for the win was sidelined with a mechanical issue. The win was up for grabs and Scott made an excellent start, putting himself in the battle for the lead with Cameron and Fenton. Positions changed on a number of occasions and Scott pounced...

Scott far from sixes and sevens in bright start to the season

Scott far from sixes and sevens in bright start to the season

Last weekend saw a fantastic start for Scott Ogden in the first round of the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship. The Epworth youngster finished seventh in race one and sixth in the second. 14-year-old Scott Ogden was back in action on a standard Moto3 in the British Superbike series, just a couple of weeks after finishing an impressive 11th in the first ever British Talent Cup race. The first round of the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship took place on the short 1.2 mile Indy circuit at Brands Hatch. Free Practice On Friday there were two very different free practice sessions. The first was on a damp track although a narrow dry line formed as the session went on. In the difficult conditions, Ogden finished a superb second fastest. In the afternoon the track had dried out completely. He worked on race pace rather than lap time and was pleased with his consistency on old tyres. He reduced his lap time to 52.716...

Motostar Brands Hatch GP October 2017

Motostar Brands Hatch GP October 2017

At Brands BSB, Scott finished on a high with P6 in race 1 then P5 in race 2. However, battling for the podium with Charlie Atkins and Jack Scott he was held up by an open class bike on the last lap. Great lap times though and real progression in his novice year. Many thanks to all our friends and family, particularly Chris and Sharon Gill and Stuart Edwards. Also to our sponsors Charlie Corner at Malton Laser, keith Townsend(Manx GP winner) at DC Butler Motorcycles, A18 Motorcycle Tyres, Allotts Chartered Accountants and all those who have kindly donated to Scott’s racing fund this year. Could we also thanks to Peter Ormiston of the Racing Steps Foundation for his advice and guidance. Congratulations and thanks to all the Team at Microlise Cresswell Racing. A great double podium to finish the season. Well deserved. Thanks to Craig Hobbs Photography for the excellent image of a scott exiting Druids during morning warm up....

Motostar Assen 2017

Motostar Assen 2017

Just back from Assen BSB after a weekend of mixed results but some real positives and finally getting the suspension sorted for the wet thanks to Richard Brendish and Sam at Ohlins and Alan and Richard at Cresswell Racing. Another new track to learn with changing conditions, Scott’s times were strong in FP1 and 2. Qualifying was frustrating with tricky conditions and by the time Race 1 started, its was proper Assen wet. Scott finally got some clear track and caught Charlie Atkins and Scott Swann, getting past and then setting the 4th fastest time of the BSB standard bikes in the heavy rain. It gave him his best grid position of the year for race 2 but unfortunately pushing harder revealed that the suspension was too soft in dry conditions for the high-speed corners of the Drenthe circuit. He coped with the chatter for 5 laps, going 0.5 secs quicker before the front let go ending his weekend. No real damage...

Motostar Silverstone 2017

Motostar Silverstone 2017

Scott's third meeting on the Motostar bike and another track to learn. Conditions were changeable over the weekend but his class were lucky with two dry races and some wet time during FP2 on Friday. Scott improved on his lap times all weekend, closing the gap to the leaders and generally working on getting the bike right for the excellent GP circuit. The standard bikes were joined by 18 riders from the ADAC championship which runs in Northern Europe but it was business as usual with Scott battling with Jake Clark, Taylor Fox Moreton and Ross Turner and finishing in P8 in race 1 with burnt out clutch and P9 in the second race before the heavens opened for the afternoon. Thanks to the Microlise Cresswell Racing and to our sponsors Malton Laser. Thanks also for our continued support from DC Butler Motorcycles, A18 Motorcycles and Allotts Chartered Accountants of Doncaster. Scott will be at Oulton Park next weekend, once again...

British Talent Cup selection event 2018

British Talent Cup selection event 2018

Thank you to everyone for their support and congratulations. Wednesday at the selection event was a tough day and there were many excellent riders who didn't make it through to the final 22 plus 6 reserves. Good luck to them next year. The final numbers included 10 current Motostar riders and 18 from other championships including 5 from the KTM Cup and 3 from Bemsee/Thundersports. There are a number of riders from the Spanish Championships and from Minibike bikes/ MX (the World MX 85 Champion!)/Scotland and Ireland. We think it is a great opportunity. It's what British and Irish racing has needed for some time. Thank you to Dorna Sports for use of the images. ...

Motostar Cadwell Park 2017

Motostar Cadwell Park 2017

Sunday at Cadwell Park started with P6 in morning warm up after some setting changes to the rear shock. Scott started from dead last on the grid having been run off the track on Saturday and not setting a lap time. He got a decent start and spent a few laps breaking clear of the riders around him and then set about closing the battle for fifth place. Unfortunately, he ran out of time and had to settle for 7th and a fifth fastest lap time of 1:37.1. He now heads off to Silverstone for the British Talent Cup selection on Tues/Weds. The next BSB round is also at Silverstone in the 3 weeks time. Many thanks to our friends and supporters who made the trip to Cadwell, to All the Team at Microlise Cresswell Racing and to Scott's sponsors. Congratulations to Charlie Corner of Malton Laser who took his first Pro Am victory on Saturday afternoon from 7th on the grid....
